Donald Dean Smith, 73, of Chamois, died Sunday, January 24, 2010, at his home. He was born June 4, 1936, in Jefferson City, a son of Hubert J. and Mary F. Eads Smith. He was a 1954 graduate of Osage County R-I High School in Chamois. On October 28, 1955, Don was united in marriage to Betty Hutsler, who preceded him in death on January 27, 1980. On April 16, 1983, Don was united in marriage in Chamois to Connie Schmidt Keisker, who survives at their home. Don worked for Central Electric Power Co-Op from 1955 until his retirement in 1996 as Plant Engineer of the Chamois power plant. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, the Chamois Lion's Club, National Rifle Association, and the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association. He is survived by four children: Steve Smith and wife Sherry of New Bloomfield, Donna Bisges and husband Neal of Jefferson City, David Keisker and wife Gail of Jefferson City, Debbie Keisker of Columbia; two sisters: Betty Shockley of Independence, Brenda Hausman of Gaithersburg, Maryland; six grandchildren: Kelsey Keisker, Brandon Keisker, Laura Lambert, Katie Shasserre and husband Seth, Samantha Bisges, Kelly Bisges; and three great-grandchildren: Erin Lambert, Ashley Lambert and Tyler Shasserre. Friends will be received from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Meyer-Hilke-Millard Funeral Home, Chamois. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at the St. John's United Church of Christ with Rev. Denise Walker officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John's United Church of Christ Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society.
