Ruby Ethel (Rumbaugh) Robinson, age 89, of Hallsville, Mo., died Thursday, February 18, 2010, at Boone Hospital Center, Columbia.
Ruby was born May 4, 1920, near Bloodland, Mo., the daughter of Charles F. and Katie Springer Rumbaugh. On June 1, 1956, she was married at Hallsville to Willis Franklin Robinson. He preceded her in death November 25, 1996. Ruby was a graduate of Hallsville High School, Moberly Junior College and the University of Missouri where she earned the Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees. She taught in rural schools in Randolph and Boone Counties, Fayette High School and Simonson Junior High in Jefferson City for a total of 15 1/2 years. She was an active and faithful member of Red Top Christian Church, Hallsville, where she served in many capacities and was the first woman elected deacon to the church board in 1972. Other memberships included the Missouri University Alumni Association, Hallsville and Boone County Historical Societies and the Milly Cooper Brown Chapter of DAR No. 6098. Survivors include a sister-in-law, Iris Rumbaugh, Hallsville and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Dorothy Davenport, Grace Baugh, Opal Dugan and one brother, Charles Rumbaugh. A service of Christian Worship will be held Sunday, February 21, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at Red Top Christian Church, Hallsville. Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m . until time of service. Rev Charles A. Butcher and Rev. Betsy Happel will officiate. Interment will be in the Red Top Cemetery, Hallsville. The family suggests memorials to the Red Top Christian Church Building Fund, 14555 Route U, Hallsville. Fenton Funeral Chapel, Centralia, is in charge of arrangements. Arrangements are under the direction of Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee, 913-631-5566.
