Mrs. Pramila (Felicita) Thomas, 77 of Norfolk, Nebraska, passed away Friday, February 12, 2010. at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, in Omaha, following an illness.
Pramila was born on November 6, 1932, in Madras, India, the daughter of Edward and Daisy (Asirvatham) Rathnam. She was raised in Madras and graduated from Bentinck Girls' higher secondary school. On January 5, 1956, Pramila married (John) Milton Thomas. The couple moved from Madras, in southern India, to the north central region of India, where Milton was employed as a civil engineer building bridges for the railroad. Because of his work, the family was required to move numerous times, however they always remained in northern India. Following his mandatory retirement in India, Pramila and Milton were sponsored by their daughter and son-in-law to come to the United States in 1988. They moved to Jefferson, Mo., where Milton continued his career in civil engineering. When he retired in 2006, they moved to Norfolk. Pramila was a wonderful mother. Her husband, children and grandchildren were her life. She enjoyed shopping and spending time reading scriptures. Pramila is survived by her husband, Milton; their children and their spouses, Audrey and Sam Sunderraj, of Lecompton, Kan., and Brian and Faye Thomas, of Norfolk, Neb.; two grandsons, Jason and Nigel Thomas; one sister, Olivia Thomas, of Banglore, India; two brothers, Ernest and Thilaka Rathnam of Madras, India, and Alexander and Kokila Rathnam, of Trichy, India. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services for Pramila (Felicita) Thomas will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at the Norfolk Church of Christ, Norfolk, Nebraska. Pastor Jeff Schipper will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at the Home for Funerals in Norfolk, Nebraska.
