Danny Johnson, 56, of California, Mo., passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2010, at his residence surrounded by loved ones.
He was born on June 28, 1953, in California, Mo., the son of Ray and Helen (Springer) Johnson, both of whom preceded him in death. He was married on July 29, 1972, at First Presbyterian Church in Tipton, Mo. to Janan Stephens, who survives of the home. He worked at Logan Aluminum in Russellville, Ky. before taking early retirement. He was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church in Holts Summit, where he and Janan were baptized together. He loved the St. Louis Cardinals, loved to travel, spend time with his family, and piddlin'. He was a graduate of Tipton High School. He is survived by three daughters, Shernan Johnson, of Russellville, Ky., Michelle Helming and husband Jason of Jefferson City, Mo., and Rachel Currens and husband Steven of Holts Summit, Mo.; two sisters, Carol Hunt and husband Roger of Waldron, Ark., and Connie Shehorn of Warsaw, Mo.; one sister-in-law, Judy Johnson of Jefferson City, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Daniel, Antonio, Selena, Christopher, Katelynn, Alex, Izac, Ian, and Ace. He was preceded in death by one brother, Billy Johnson. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2010. at 10:00 a.m. at Union Hill Baptist Church in Holts Summit. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Latham, Mo. Officiating will be Rev. Frank Whitney. Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 16, 2010, from 5:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. at Union Hill Baptist Church. Memorials are suggested to the family of Danny Johnson, c/o Union Hill Baptist Church, 460 S. Summit Drive, Holts Summit, MO 65043, or to the Lymphoma-Leukemia Foundation, c/o Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, 100 S. Oak, California, MO 65018.
