Helen E. Glade, 92, of Jefferson City, passed away Friday, December 24, 2010, at St. Mary's Health Center. She was born December 5, 1918, in Worthington, Minn., the daughter of Walter H. and Elizabeth M. (Hubner) Yeske. She was a 1936 graduate of Worthington, Minnesota High School and the Ocheyedan, Iowa High School Post Teacher's Course. On October 6, 1940, Helen was united in marriage in Ocheyedan, Iowa, to Lawrence C. Glade, who preceded her in death in August 1984. Helen was a grocery checker at Fairington Supermarket, Lee's 5 & 10 and Ben Franklin. She was also a telephone operator with Worthington Telephone Exchange for 10 years until her retirement in 1974. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its Women's Auxiliary and the St. Mary's Health Center Auxiliary, all in Jefferson City. She was a past member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Worthington. Helen had provided a home for 11 boys as a second mom and had made 1180 pairs of mittens for the Samaritan Center. She is survived by three daughters: Lou Aine Pasley and husband Rex of Columbia, Dwalla Tuinstra and husband Dick of Jefferson City, and Maxine Tufty of California; 11 grandchildren, 27 great- grandchildren and one great- great-grandchild. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Daryl "Buddy" Yeske. Friends will be received from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 29, 2010, at Trinity Lutheran Church, where funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Samuel Powell officiating. Interment will be in the Worthington Memorial Gardens in Worthington, Minn. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson City or St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Worthington.
