Mrs. Annabelle C. Dunnavant, age 86 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, March 29, 2010, at the Capital Region Medical Center.
Annabelle was born February 8, 1924, in Jefferson City, Mo., the daughter of August and Stella Stegeman Schlueter. She was married on April 25, 1942, in Jefferson City, Mo. to James W. Dunnavant, III who preceded her in death on October 15, 1985. Annabelle was a life long resident of the central Missouri area. She showed her goodness and kindness in her heart by providing a loving home to her children and grandchildren as well as providing day care to many families within the community. Most importantly, Annabelle devoted her life to her family. She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph; a member of the Lady of the Snows Shrine, Belleville, Illinois; a member of St. Jude's Shrine in Baltimore, Md.; and a member of the Legion of Mary. Survivors include: seven daughters, Judy A. Magee of Jefferson City, Mo., Mary Beth Lachner and her husband Don of Clarksburg, Mo., Janet K. Hoerschgen and her husband Donnie of Jefferson City, Mo., Patricia Hood and her husband Larry of Jefferson City, Mo., Linda Nentwig and her husband Alan of Jefferson City, Mo., Wanda Meller and her husband Donny of Osage Bend, Mo., and Jamie Lynn Walters of Jefferson City, Mo.; one son, James W. Dunnavant, IV and his wife Debbie of Osage Bend, Mo.; one sister, Audrey Dunnavant of Jefferson City, Mo.; one sister-in-law, Mary Schlueter of Jefferson City, Mo.; 21 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother, Wendel Schlueter; son-in-law, Dennis Magee; brother-in-law, Henry "Mickey" Dunnavant and his son George "Corky" Dunnavant. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 12:00 noon, Monday, April 5, 2010, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Reverend Benjamin Nwosu officiating. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Cathedral of St. Joseph from 10:00 until 12:00 noon Monday. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Cathedral of St. Joseph or St. Jude's Childrens Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee.
