Harold David Weimholt, age 84 years, of Ballwin, Mo., formerly of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Saturday, May 4, 2019. Harold was born on January 15, 1935, in Boonville, Missouri to Rose Helen Weimholt and Urban William Weimholt. He attended St. Peter and Paul School in Boonville through twelfth grade and graduated in 1953. In 1955 Harold received his diploma in Architectural Drafting from the Chicago Technical College. He joined the United States Navy in 1955 and served until 1957. Upon return from the Navy, he moved to Jefferson City and began employment at Delong's Inc. in steel design. It was in Jefferson City that he met Shirley Ann Adams, whom he married on October 23, 1965. In 1966, Harold became a draftsman with the Missouri Department of Transportation and worked there until his retirement in 1990. After retirement, he returned to work for MoDOT part time until 2009. For many years, Harold also worked part time as a meat cutter for Kroger grocery store and independently contracted with businesses around the state of Missouri in steel design. Once fully retired, he enjoyed riding bicycles on the Katy Trail, traveling with his wife, Shirley, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Harold was active in the community, serving on the Jefferson City Police Reserve Force for six years, participating in the building of homes with Habitat for Humanity, and volunteering as a park aide on the Katy Trail in the Missouri Volunteers in Parks Program. Harold was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and served as a member of the Perpetual Adoration prayer group. Survivors include his wife: Shirley; his children and spouses: Tracy and Joe Zehnle, Stacey and Mark Caplinger, and Wendy and Michael Trowbridge; as well as his seven grandchildren: Kaleigh and Blaike Zehnle, Andrew and Emma Caplinger, and Luke, Logan, and Liam Trowbridge, and his brothers: Gary Weimholt and Norbert Weimholt. Harold was preceded in death by his sister: Dorothy Schmidle; his brother: Bernard Weimholt; and his parents: Rose and Urban Weimholt. Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 11:30 a.m., Friday, May 10, 2019. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Friday, May 10, 2019 at St. Peter Catholic Church with Monsignor Robert Kurwicki officiating. Entombment will follow at the Mausoleum of Resurrection Cemetery.
