Richard Dick Gerling

Richard "Dick" Gerling, 70, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2019, at Capital Regional Medical Center. He was born on September 7, 1948, in Jefferson City, Missouri, a son of August and Bertha Wolters Gerling. Richard graduated from Jefferson City High School in 1966, and attended Linn Technical College then later served in the United States Navy from January of 1968, to January 1972. Richard worked at Braun Auto Repair for over 35 years as a mechanic. He had a passion for refinishing antique furniture, watching NASCAR and spending time sharing stories over a cold beer with his friends and family. He is survived by two children: Stephanie (Brian Brandt) Gerling of Jefferson City, Nicholas (Jennifer) Gerling of Brentwood; one grandson: Maverick Gerling of Brentwood; five brothers: Tom (Margaret) Gerling of St. Louis, Larry (Brenda) Gerling of Kansas City, Alan (Diane) Gerling of Jefferson City, Bill Gerling of Jefferson City, John Gerling of Fulton. Richard is preceded in death by his parents. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2019, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Funeral Service will be at 12:00 p.m., Thursday March 14, 2019, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Interment will follow in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
