Mrs. Georgia L. Sartor, age 78 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Heisinger Bluffs. Georgia was born December 30, 1940 in Stockport, Ohio, the daughter of Nash and Goldie (Thornley) Cunningham. Georgia grew up in Stockport and graduated from Windsor High School in 1959. She was married on August 14, 1960 in Shreveport, La. to John W. Sartor, who preceded her in death on January 31, 1994. John and Georgia moved to Jefferson City in 1974 when John was promoted with the Missouri State Highway Patrol as a Captain working out of General Headquarters. Georgia was employed with the Missouri Secretary of State for 15 years until her husband's ill health forced her retirement. Previously, she was employed with J.C. Penny's store in downtown Jefferson City when her children were younger. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, particularly their trip to Banff, Canada. She also talked fondly of an Alaskan Cruise girls trip. In addition, she loved visiting the casinos, music, singing and dancing and was a volunteer at Memorial Community Hospital. Georgia was an independent, intelligent woman, who had a quick wit that could pack a punch that left you teary-eyed from laughter. The foundation of her life revolved around raising her children, her career then being a caretaker for her husband, John. She was extremely proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren's achievements. She will be remembered for her oatmeal raisin cookies, generous spirit, sense of spunk and fashion sense. Survivors include: two daughters, Carol Porter and her husband Kevin of Republic, Mo. and Louise Weber and her husband Scott of Jefferson City, Mo.; one daughter-in-law, Cathy Sartor of Marshall, Mo.; one sister, Shirley Calendine of Peru, Ind.; two brothers, Robert Cunningham and Chester Cunningham, both of Stockport, Ohio; five grandchildren, Tyler Porter and his wife Ashley, Cole Michael Porter and his wife Kendra, Kristin Hu and her husband Hu Cheng, Shawn Sartor, and Michael Sartor; one step-grandson, Ryan Weber and his wife Kelli; two great-grandchildren, Lillie and Hayes Porter; and two step-great-grandchildren, Amelia and Gemma Weber. She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, John Sartor; one son, Mark Sartor on December 25, 2000; three brothers, Wayne Cunningham, Elmer Cunningham, Leroy Cunningham; and one sister, Betty Bebout. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 13, 2019.
