Darrel Sharpe

Darrel Sharpe, 86, of New Bloomfield, passed away peacefully Friday, January 11, 2019, at Heisinger Bluffs. He was born March 26, 1932 in LaBelle, Missouri, a son of the late Roscoe A. and Mary Alice (Piercall) Sharpe. On September 9, 1961 in Boonville, Darrel was united in marriage to Jeanettia Reed, who survives at their home. Darrel served his country in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954. He graduated from Northeast Missouri State and then later obtained his Master's Degree in Agricultural Chemistry from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Darrel worked in the Division of Air Conservation with the Department of Natural Resources. He retired from the Department of Agriculture as the Director of the Division of Feed and Seed. He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church and the St. Andrews Knights of Columbus. Along with his wife of 57 years, Jeanettia, he is survived by his children: Kevin Sharpe (Debra) of Moberly and Kimberly Hollingsworth (Timothy) of New Bloomfield; grandchildren: Suzanne Dillane (Stephen), Tyler Sharpe, Cash Sharpe, Reed Coots, Gage Hollingsworth and J. Elliot Hollingsworth; great- grandchildren: Matthew Abbott and Maddox Dillane. Darrel was preceded in death by one son: Stephen Sharpe; and four siblings: Mary Frances Lillard, John Sharpe, Georgia Felter, James Virgil Sharpe. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 18, 2019, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Holts Summit. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 18, 2019, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Holts Summit with Fr. Joe Coral officiating. Interment will follow at a later date in the St. Andrew Catholic Church Cemetery with full military honors.
