Leila Todd, 92, of Fulton, Missouri, passed away at Boone Hospital in Columbia on Friday, January 11, 2019. She was born February 21, 1926, in Unityville, South Dakota to the late Arnold and Amanda (Graese) Koepsell. On July 3, 1954, she was united in marriage for 55 years to William Carson Todd who preceded her in death. At the age of 17, Leila's adventurous spirit led her to Portland, Oregon to work as an electrician's assistant in the shipyards - her personal war effort during World War II. Leila had many other adventures that led her to Florida where she worked as a beautician and met her husband, William. The Todds' early life together included several moves due to job re-locations including South Dakota, Louisiana, Kansas, and Colorado, eventually leading them to Fulton, Missouri in 1958. She worked as a beautician and successfully operated Leila's Beauty Shop from 1967 through 2004. She was a fantastic cook, enjoyed dancing, fishing, Bingo, playing canasta, and loved her many faithful dogs through the years. She was a woman of strength and had a very strong faith. Leila will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by one son, Michael Todd of Fulton, Missouri; three daughters, Nancy Nickelson and her husband, Dennis of Jefferson City, Missouri, Jane Fleischmann of Rolling Meadows, Illinois, and Carol Brown and her husband, Kevin of Wilmington, North Carolina; six grandchildren, Karen (Bryan) Gregory, Ashley Brown, Ben (Terra) Nickelson, Austin Brown, Amanda Fleischmann, and Jennifer Fleischmann; and three great-grandchildren, Emma, Lily, and Tucker Gregory. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Marvin Koepsel; and her sister, Delora Severson. Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Reverend Sam Powell officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson City, Missouri, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Boulevard, Fulton, MO 65251.
