MaryAnn Josephine Prenger, 80, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2019, at Capital Region Medical Center. She was born on August 7, 1938, in Wardsville, a daughter of the late Anton and Catherine (Feind) Derkum. She was united in marriage to Richard Prenger on June 8, 1957, in Wardsville, Missouri. MaryAnn was a devoted housewife and mother who enjoyed sewing and quilting. She worked at Popp's Grocery and then many years at Bridgett's Alterations. She was a member of the Sewing Circle at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. MaryAnn was a member of WOW, Women of Wardsville. When she wasn't quilting or sewing, she enjoyed gardening and putting together jigsaw puzzles. Her favorite past time was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the perfect pieces to her life's quilt. She is survived by her husband: Richard Prenger Sr. of Jefferson City; children: Richard Prenger Jr. (Staci) of Wardsville, Dennis Prenger (Glenda) of Taos, JoAnn Essary (Bobby) of Jefferson City, James Prenger (Viola) of Taos, Christy Feltrop (Darren) of Taos, Mark Prenger of Taos, and Jason Prenger (Theresa) of Taos; siblings: Bernice Benton (Jim) and Norman Derkum; sisters-in-law: Patsy Luebbering (Gerry) and Claire Werdehausen: brother-in-law: Paul Braun; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous family and friends. MaryAnn was preceded in death by her stepmother: Clara Feind; sister: Pauline Braun; daughter-in-law: Rosemary Prenger and granddaughter: Tiffany Buechter. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Taos with a prayer service at 3:15 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 10, 2019, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Taos with Fr. Michael Penn officiating. Interment will follow in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy can be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
