Henrietta Frances Hartness, 80, of Jefferson City, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at her residence. She was born June 1, 1938, in Jefferson City, the daughter of the late Martin Paul and Mabelle Clare (Waratzeck) Oidtman. Henrietta was a 1956 graduate of Helias High School. She was united in marriage on June 6, 1960, in Jefferson City, to Donald D. Hartness who preceded her in death on December 20, 2011. She began her career in 1956-1960, working as a clerk typist for the Missouri State Penitentiary. From 1979-1989, she worked in the mailroom at the News Tribune and then moved to the Missouri Consolidated Health Care Plan, retiring in 2001. She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph. Henrietta loved to fish and garden. Survivors include four children, Kirk Hartness, Rogers, Arkansas; Carol (James) Shaw, Huntsville, Missouri; Carrie Roth, Clearwater, Florida; Timothy (Danielle) Hartness, Jefferson City; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Doris Kraus, Jefferson City; two brothers, Glennon (Deanne) Oidtman, Climax Springs, Missouri; and David (Sharon) Oidtman, Jefferson City; a sister-in-law, Patricia Oidtman, Jefferson City; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Louise and James Melly; a brother, Kenneth Oidtman, and a brother-in-law, Harry Kraus. Visitation will be 2:30-4:30 p.m. Sunday, January 6, 2019, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 2 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, January 7, 2019, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Rev. Louis M. Nelen, officiating. Entombment will be in Riverview Mausoleum. Memorials are suggested to the Cathedral of St. Joseph, 2305 W.
