Dolores Theresa Dudenhoeffer

Dolores Theresa Dudenhoeffer, 81, of Jefferson City, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 6, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 7, 1937, in Chamois, a daughter of the late Werner and Sophia (Boss) Thuli. She was united in marriage on October 18, 1958, in Morrison, Missouri to August P. Dudenhoeffer Jr., who preceded her in death on April 6, 2018. Dolores attended Assumption Catholic Church Grade School in Morrison and graduated from Osage R-I High School in Chamois in 1955. She was employed by State Farm in Jefferson City and the US Postal Service as a postal clerk in Chamois and Linn. Dolores was an owner/manager of the Village Snack Bar in Lake Ozark. She also was the dancing ICEE Bear at promotional events for her husband's business. She was very athletic and played both basketball and volleyball in high school. Dolores was a member of the "Miller High Life" Bowling Team in Chamois and was an original player on the Auggies Doggies Volleyball Team. She was a member of the choir at both St. Peter and St. Stanislaus Catholic Churches. Most of all, Dolores cherished the memories made with her family. Dolores was the type of person that never knew a stranger. If you just visited with her briefly, you soon became quick friends. Dolores was a beautiful person that lit up the room when she arrived. Whenever she wasn't there, the room just felt like something was missing. Anyone that met/knew her, felt her warm compassion. She told us that she had a couple of nicknames: "Her Daddy called her his little sweet potato and her family and friends called her Toots." Mom was a hugger and kisser, and wasn't afraid to show it. She had a special place in her heart for older people that were lonely or that she felt were not being treated fairly-she was always there to help or be friends with the underdog. Mom had a special love for the Blessed Mother and shared the importance of praying to Mary with her family often. She was constantly seeking Mary's intercession and had her go-to prayer was O MARY CONCEIVED WITHOUT SIN, PRAY FOR US WHO HAVE RECOURSE TO THEE. This special love for Mary lasted her entire life time. Mom was a wonderful Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend. She especially treasured all the fun times she had with her bowling girls from Chamois, her card club friends, her classmates from Chamois and Morrison, the choir singers from Most Pure Heart of Mary Church-Chamois, St. Peters-Jefferson City, St. Stanislaus-Wardsville and all her friends from Osage and Cole counties. She especially enjoyed attending soccer and volleyball games, visits to the Convent in Nashville to see Sr. Magdalena O.P. (Tessa), music concerts and attending horse shoe tournaments with her Husband Bud and visiting holy sites around the world and in Perryville Missouri. Dolores/Toots will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Her family has the happy consolation of knowing that Mom right where she always wanted to be-in the warm loving arms of Jesus and the Blessed Mother Mary and is visiting with Bud (her husband) and all her loving family and friends that were anxiously awaiting her arrival in heaven. She is survived by two sons: August P. "Pete" Dudenhoeffer III (Karen) and Keith A. Dudenhoeffer (Christina) of Jefferson City; one daughter: Valerie Troesser (Carl) of Frankenstein; and seven grandchildren: Sister Magdalena Dudenhoeffer O.P. (Tessa), Austen Dudenhoeffer, Ashley Dudenhoeffer, Landon Troesser, Nathan Troesser, Ethan Troesser, and Evan Troesser. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers: Sonny Thuli, Howard Thuli and Kenny Thuli; and her sister: Margaret Thuli-Rost. Friends and family will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 10, 2019, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home with a Prayer Service at 3:15 p.m. followed by a Holy Rosary. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 11, 2019, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph, with Fr. Ignazio C. Medina officiating. Entombment will immediately follow in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Expressions of sympathy may be made for masses at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Wardsville.
