Eliott Gordon Case Jr.

Mr. Elliott Gordon Case Jr., age 86 years, of Hartsburg, Mo., passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at home. Gordon was born on July 6, 1932, in Cedar City, Mo., the son of Elliott Gordon Sr. and Greba E. Johnson Case. He was married on February 14, 1960, in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lohman, Mo. to Esther Anna Pauline Fluegel, who preceded him in death on August 15, 2012. A lifelong resident of the Hartsburg area, he was a 1950, graduate of Jefferson City High School and earned a B.S. in Agriculture in 1956 from the University of Missouri, Columbia. Gordon served in the United States Army Reserves beginning in 1957 and was discharged as a Second Lieutenant in 1966. He was employed with the Missouri Department of Corrections from 1984 until his retirement as a Correctional Officer in 2003. He was also employed with Nuclear Security Services from 1981 until 1984. Gordon owned and operated Case Dairy Farm from 1956 until 1982. His love for agriculture and knack for gardening led him to become involved in taking produce to sell at many locally owned farmers markets from 1978 until 1997. In addition to gardening, he enjoyed fishing, cooking, and canning. Other interests were antique refinishing, genealogy, photography, and camping. He was an avid trout fisherman in Wyoming, Montana, Branson, and Montauk State Park. Most importantly, he cherished his time with his family and friends. Gordon was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Cedar City Lions Club, Mid-America Dairymen, and was involved in the Cedar City School Board and P.T.A. Survivors include: four children, Jacqueline Forck of Jefferson City, Mo., Connie Voelker (husband Jerry) of Fenton, Mo., Michael Case (wife Esther) of Iowa City, Iowa, and Clara Haenchen (husband William) of Hartsburg, Mo.; three siblings, James "Jimmy" Case (wife Ruth Ann) of Kansas City, Mo., Joel Case of St. Louis, Mo., and Miriam Librach (husband Clifford) of Waltham, Massachusetts; one brother-in-law, Roy Fluegel of Kansas City, Mo.; six grandchildren, Justin Forck, Nicholas Voelker, Lucas Voelker, Jacob Haenchen, Emma Haenchen, and Benjamin Case; and one great-granddaughter, Chloe Plaster. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 52 years, Esther; one grandson, Joshua Forck; and three brothers-in-law, Walter Fluegel, Oscar Fluegel, and Edgar Fluegel. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 8, 2019. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 9, 2019, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with the Reverend Scott Musselman officiating. Graveside services and interment will be be conducted at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Lohman, Mo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Our Savior's Lutheran Church or the St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund.
