Donald E. Forbis

Donald E. Forbis, 85, California, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 12, 2019. He was born on March 4, 1934, in Columbia, Mo. to the late Elver Clyde Forbis and Bertha May (Bradley) Forbis. He was united in marriage on March 11, 1956, to RoVera Debo of Wellsville, Mo. Together they had four children and in 2019, celebrated 63 years of Holy Matrimony. Donald served in the Army from 1953-1955, in the 2nd Division of Artillery as Communications Specialist in the Korean War. After returning home from the service, Don started his career in sales and sales management working with livestock nutrition. Don was a member of Knights Templar with the Masonic Lodge and was awarded a Fifty-Year Membership Pin for membership in both the Masonic Lodge and the Knights Templar. He enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with his family. Don was a member of First Baptist Church in California, Mo. Don was preceded in death by: an infant granddaughter, Jessica Forbis; an infant great-grandson, Maximus Hubbard; his son, Paul Forbis; a brother, Virgil F. Forbis; and sister, Lillie May Lewis. Survivors include: his wife RoVera Forbis of California, Mo.; two daughters, Stephanie Yates with her husband, Doug of Mexico, Mo., and Cynthia Renn with her husband, Paul of Jefferson City, Mo.; one son, John Forbis and fiancé, Patrisha Dunn of California, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Erin Ciolli, John Michael Forbis, Ashley Green, Rose Yates, Jacob Forbis, Kristopher Yates, Nathan Renn, Cortney Renn, Bryan Forbis; and 11 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on Friday, August 16, 2019, from 9-11 a.m. with services following at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jeremy Anderson officiating at Windmill Ridge Funeral Service. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2019, at the Wellsville Cemetery, Wellsville, Missouri.
