Mrs. Mary Ann Headley (nee Winkelmann), age 85 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Adams Street Place. She was born on September 9, 1933 in St. Louis, Mo. and was adopted in March of 1935 by Joseph and Elizabeth "Bess" (Gasche) Winkelmann. She was married to Charles L. Lehman in 1956 who preceded her in death. She married Jene E. Headley in 1965 who also preceded her in death. She attended St. Peter's elementary and high schools, graduating in 1951. Mary Ann worked at Commercial Credit for seven years, then at various short-term jobs until she began working for the Missouri National Guard Credit Union in 1964, retiring in 1992 as Vice President. She was an in-home caregiver from 1993 until 2000. Mary Ann enjoyed traveling. She explored much of North America and went on an excursion through Europe, with her favorite stop being Rome. She loved animals, had pets all her life, and followed the Decorah Eagles. She was an avid reader and a fierce card player, especially bridge. She was a major sports fan, following the St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues. She loved making others laugh and serving good food to friends and family. She tried to always remember and celebrate birthdays and often sent cards for other occasions. What she cherished the most was spending time with her family, friends and "bridge girls" who became her extended family. Survivors include: her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Bonnie (Kempker) Lehman of Jefferson City, Mo.; daughter, Jean Ann Headley of Jefferson City, Mo.; daughter of the heart, Leslie Leavell of Jefferson City, Mo.; three grandchildren, Deidre Lehman Koch and her husband Phillip of Olathe, Kan., Stephen Lehman and his wife Alicia of Jefferson City, Mo., and Jessica Headley of Millersburg, Mo.; and four great-grandchildren, Terra Headley, Jetta and Bayn Lehman and baby girl Koch. She was preceded in death by her parents.
