Margo Yvonne Betts, 66, of Jefferson City, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 2, 2018, at her home. She was born September 10, 1951, in Memphis, Tennessee, the daughter of Semiel Lloyd Fitch and Verlean Stuckey, who preceded her in death. She was united in marriage on November 18, 1976, to the late Larry T. Betts. In 1989 Margo obtained an associate degree in Computer Technology from The National Institute of Technology in Michigan. Margo and her family moved to Jefferson City, Missouri in 1997. She was employed for many years at Sears before going to work at Lincoln University for 10 years, where she built many new friendships. After retiring from Lincoln in 2015, she began working for Pyramid Home Health until February 2018. In her spare time, Margo loved playing bingo, roller skating, and dancing. She loved cooking big soul food dinners for her family and friends, who she loved dearly. She will truly be missed. Margo is survived by her children: Shalonda Lowe of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Larry Betts of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Brandon Betts and Byron Betts, both of Jefferson City, Missouri; siblings: Norfleet (Dorothy) Fitch of Michigan, Suray (Michael) Yeakey of Maryland, Tanya Jones of Jefferson City, Mo., and Thaddious Fitch of Maryland. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Brandon, Byron, Lyrik, Larry, Londyn, Kelly, and Kingston, extended family members; Charlotte Burr, Sandra Morgan, Gilberta Trout, Lisa Nash, Myron Burr, Desiree Taylor and Michael Hill Davis, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings; Fernandous Fitch and Carmen Jones and extended family members; Lamar Burr, Raymond Hill, Norvell Hill, Gilbert Hill, and Bernita Hill Taylor; and her very special friend, Edna Lumpkin-Williams. A memorial service will be held in honor of Margo Betts on Saturday, September 15, at One In Christ Baptist Church, 900 Jefferson St. Jefferson City, MO 65101 at 1:00 p.m.
