Irene Helen Smith, 90, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday evening, November 17, 2018, at St. Joseph Bluffs, surrounded by family members. Irene was born September 30, 1928, in Jefferson City, to Edward Herman and Clara Beatrice (Horstdaniel) Weaver. She was united in marriage on February 5, 1947, in Jefferson City to Arthur Olen Smith, who preceded her in death on December 5, 1992. Irene attended Immaculate Conception Elementary School and graduated from Jefferson City High School. She was employed with Capital City Telephone Company, Farm Bureau, and the State of Missouri Division of Finance until her retirement in 1990. She later worked part-time for many years at the Missouri Lions State Office. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, St. Ann's Sodality and Jefferson City Capital Lions. She volunteered for many years at Capital Region Medical Center and the Samaritan Center. Irene enjoyed playing cards in two card clubs, fishing, traveling and especially loved spending time with her family. She is survived by a daughter, Brenda (Wayne) Weider, a son, Doug (Melody) Smith, all of Jefferson City; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Smith, Sparta, Missouri; grandchildren, Michelle Lynn, Santa Fe, New Mexico, Shane Smith (Stephanie Alexander), Houston, Texas, Wesley (Janelle) Weider, Jefferson City, Nici Smith Zachar, Jefferson City, Colton Smith, Kansas City; step-grandson, Kris (Jessica) Graham, Jefferson City; great-grandchildren, U.S. Airman First Class Kolby Weider, Odenton, Maryland, Jaxon Weider and Ainsley Weider, Jefferson City, Natalie Wolf and Bryce Evers, Jefferson City; step-great-grandson, Grady Graham, Jefferson City; a sister, Mary (Joe) Schmitz, Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Charles (Darlene) Weaver, Jefferson City; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; a son, Dennis Smith; a sister, Gladys Davis and a brother, Jack Weaver. Visitation will be 4:30-7 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2018, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jefferson City, with Rev. Donald J. Antweiler officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Immaculate Conception Church, 1206 E.
