Nancy "Nicky" Kirk

Nancy "Nicky" Kirk, 90, of Kirkwood, formerly of Jefferson City, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, at the Mary Culver Home in Kirkwood. She was born on September 17, 1928 in St. Louis, Mo., a daughter of the late Scott and Alma (Smith) Smith. Nicky was united in marriage on August 1, 1949, to Rev. Jon Wesley Kirk in St. Louis, who preceded her in death in 2000. She was a graduate of Washington University Conservatory of Music in St. Louis. Nicky attended Central Methodist University and Lincoln University, obtaining her Bachelors of Science Degree in Education. She was a full-time mother of 10 beautiful children. After raising her family, Nicky worked for over 15 years as a teacher with the Missouri Department of Corrections. She was an avid artist, singer and enjoyed attending many Barry Manilow concerts. Her greatest passion was spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her eight sons: Dr. Michael Kirk (Sandy), Sam Kirk, Rev. Scott Bailey-Kirk (Melissa), Jon Kirk (Linda), David Kirk (Sue), Barry Kirk (Andy), Rev. Brian Kirk (Johnathan) and Todd Kirk (Wendy); daughter: Virginia Rice (Paul); 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter: Suzy Kirk. A brief remembrance service will be held at the Houser-Milliard Funeral Home at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 21, 2018, with Rev. Melissa Bailey-Kirk officiating, followed by a private graveside service for the family at noon at Riverview Cemetery.
