Nasir Ali Smith

Nasir Ali Smith, 14, of Columbia, passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, in Columbia. He was born on December 16, 2003, in St. Louis, to Yashim Duran Smith and Tawna Nicole Woods. Nasir attended Hickman High School and was currently being home schooled. He was a Hickman Scholar and an outstanding Columbia Raiders CYFO player. Nasir was smart, fearless and had an amazing smile. He enjoyed playing football, listening to music and eating barbecue. He cherished the times spent with his brothers, especially playing PlayStation. Most of all, Nasir loved his family with all his heart. He is survived by his mother: Tawna Nicole Woods (Nathan Bracy) of Columbia; his father: Yashim Duran Smith (Katina Griffin) of Jefferson City; two brothers: Yashim M. Smith (Maun Shaker) and Tyrik Smith, both of Columbia; grandparents: Robert Woods, Melvin Smith, Debra Brooks and Barbara Smith; uncles: Edward Bailey, Ameir Smith (Latisha), and Rachel Schanuth (Daniel); aunt: Amanda Woods (T.J. Chandler); niece: London Smith; cousins: Jillian Schanuth, Kennedy Schanuth, Logan Chandler, Arsim Smith, Ahmad Smith, Joy Smith and A.J. Smith and Raven Brooks; and many, many family and friends. Nasir was preceded in death by his grandmother: Melody Wilson; great-grandmothers: Leona Wilson and Ruth Thomas; aunt: Toni Brooks and cousin: Hunter Chandler. Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2018, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2018, at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Interment will follow Hawthorn Memorial Garden.
