Sarah Jane (Mason) Cooper, 73, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2018. She was born on April 3, 1945, in North Kansas City, Missouri, a daughter of Fred and Lilly (Page) Mason. She was united in marriage on August 20, 1966, to Jerry Cooper in North Kansas City, Missouri. Sarah graduated from North Kansas City High School, received her bachelors in music from Northwest Missouri State in Maryville, Missouri and then her Masters in Counseling from University of Missouri. Sarah taught music at Stanberry, Wheaton, Granby School Districts with later being a Counselor for Wellsville-Middletown R-II. The family moved to Jefferson City where she worked for the State of Missouri as a Disability Determination Counselor. Sarah was selected as the National Counselor of the Year in 1986. She retired from the Public-School Retirement System in 1999. Sarah enjoyed cross stitching, reading and volunteering for Hospice in Osage and Cole Counties. She was very talented and would accompany many music groups on the piano or violin for weddings and special events. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband: Jerry Cooper; two sons: Frederick Ross Cooper of Jefferson City, Jason Iliff Cooper (Karen) of Wentzville; brother: Fred Mason (Terri); two grandchildren: Grace Marie and Grant Iliff and numerous nieces and nephews. Sarah was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. Friends will be received from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 8, 2018, at First Christian Church followed by Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Beau Underwood officiating. Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at High Ridge Cemetery in Stanberry, Missouri. Expressions of sympathy can be made to Callaway Hills Animal Shelter.
