Geraldine June Sweeten

Mrs. Geraldine June Sweeten, 90, of Lohman, Mo., passed away Thursday, November 1, 2018, at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital. She was born on August 11, 1928, in Holts Summit, Mo., the daughter of the late Clarence and Cora (Oetting) Bunge. Geraldine was raised and attended school in Dalton, Mo. until 1946, when her family moved to Lohman. She was married on September 2, 1950, in Jefferson City, Mo. to Harry P. Sweeten, who preceded her in death on September 2, 2009, their 59th wedding anniversary. She became a dedicated housewife and mother to her two boys while also running a hair salon from her home. When she did have free time, Geraldine enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, canning and reading. She also loved feeding and tending to birds and hummingbirds that frequented her backyard. She was a member of First Assembly of God, and the Ladies Bible Study. Survivors include: two sons, David Sweeten (Mindy) and Steve Sweeten (Kris) of Lohman; brother, Bill Bunge (Dee) of Kansas City, Mo.; and six grandchildren, Nicolle Sweeten, Rachel Sweeten, Hannah Hammann, Amanda Hammann (Scott), John Sweeten (Beth) and Kayla Wilks; seven great-grandchildren; Kamryn Sweeten, Zane Sweeten, Paxton Sweeten, Aaron Hammann, Caleb Hammann, Katie Hammann and Lily Hammann; and her beloved cat, Tiger. Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2018. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Lowell Perkins officiating. Graveside services will follow at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
