Barbara Caroline Ruder, age 93, of Freeburg, passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, in Westphalia Hills Care Center. She was born on February 16, 1925, at Rich Fountain, a daughter of John and Caroline (Boehm) Haller. She was united in marriage on September 1, 1948, at Freeburg, to Bernard A. Ruder, who preceded her in death on May 30, 2000. Mrs. Ruder was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg. She was also a member of the American Legion Post 317 Auxiliary, Freeburg, for 69 years. During her working life, she was employed at Tweedie Footwear Corporation for 13 years, at Quaker Window Products for 25 years, at Fatima Elementary School Library for two years, and at Mertens Mini Mart in Freeburg for 13 years prior to her retirement. She is survived by her daughter, Roxanne R. McElhaney (Patrick Sr.) of Jupiter, Florida; her son, Russell Ruder of Freeburg; her grandchildren, Patrick McElhaney Jr., Laura K. McElhaney and Emily R. McElhaney; one brother, Clarence Haller of Taos; one sister, Delphine Bauer of Jefferson City; and other relatives and friends. Mrs. Ruder was also preceded in death by her father; her mother; four brothers, Frank Haller, Leo Haller, Alphonse Haller, and Theodore "Ted" Haller; and one sister, Anna Reichel. Visitation for Mrs. Barbara C. Ruder will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 21, 2018, in the Holy Family Catholic Church, 104 Oliver Street, Freeburg, MO 65035. An American Legion Auxiliary Service will be at 9:30 with her Mass of Christian Burial following at 11:00 a.m. in the church with the Rev. William D. Debo as the Celebrant. Interment will be in the Holy Family Cemetery, Freeburg, under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Vienna. Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Barbara C.
