Susanna Caroline "Susie" Eiken, 77, of Taos, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at Capital Region Medical Center. She was born February 18, 1941, in Taos, Missouri, the daughter of the late Vincent and Adela (Kerperin) Eiken. Susie attended St. Francis Xavier Grade School and graduated from Fatima High School in 1959. Susie began working for International Shoe Factory after high school. She later worked for the Missouri Department of Social Services for 35 years as a clerk retiring in 1998. She also helped at the family business, Eiken's Food Store and Hardware, located in Taos. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Taos. She enjoyed listening to the St. Louis Cardinals and reading the newspaper. One of her greatest enjoyments was seeing all the school children come into Eiken's Store after school. Susie also took great interest in the activities and endeavors of her nieces and nephews. Survivors include four siblings, Joe (Pat) Eiken, Roswell, N.M.; Eddie (Mary) Eiken, Jefferson City; Sr. Francisca (Theresa) Eiken, C.C.V.I, San Antonio, Texas; Kelly (Don) Meyer, Wentzville; one sister-in-law, Clara Eiken, Taos; 30 nieces and nephews; and many great and great-great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers: Alfred Eiken, Silver Eiken and Matthew Eiken; sisters: Margaret Forck and husband Paul, Mary Winkelman and husband Clarence Sr. Adela (Edna Mary) Eiken, C.C.V.I. and Frances "Annie" Eiken; nephews: Kurt Eiken, Patrick Eiken and Gerald Winkelman; nieces: Cheryl Winkelman, Dolores Winkelman, Teri (Eiken) Michaelson and Eileen (Winkelman) Otto. Visitation will be 8:30-10:30 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2018, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Taos. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2018, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Taos with the Rev. Gregory C. Meystrik officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the St. Francis Xavier Catholic School, 7307 Route M, Jefferson City, MO 65101.
