Dorothy A. Hager, 81, of Slater, died Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Westbrook Terrace in Jefferson City. Born November 25, 1936 in Gilliam, she was the daughter of the late Fritz and Lizzie Fisher Hager. Ms. Hager was a member of the First Baptist Church of Slater, and served on the Slater Cemetery Advisory Board. She began her career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a switchboard operator in Slater, later working in Marshall, Sedalia, St. Joseph, and Kansas City, before retiring from the Business Office of AT&T in 1994. She is survived by two sisters, Wanda Holman and her husband William of Odessa, and Evelyn Jett and her husband Donald of Jefferson City; 12 nephews; seven nieces; and several great-and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald Hager, Richard Hager, and Larry Hager; a sister, Charlotte Hawkins; and a sister-in-law, Frances Hager. Funeral services will be Monday, March 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Slater, with Rev. David L. Duncan and Terry Jordan officiating. Burial will be in Slater City Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, March 26, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church or the American Cancer Association, in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.
