Stanley M. Brand, age 68, of St. Thomas, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Mexico, Mo., on September 1, 1949, son of the late Louis Herman and Cecilia Ann (Otto) Brand. On April 28, 1973, in St. Thomas, Stanley married Mary Kay Luebbering, who survives at their home. Stanley was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was also a talented craftsman and owned and operated Brand Customized Cabinets for many years. He was an avid fisherman and gardener and enjoyed cutting grass on his John Deere mowers. Stanley was a Third-Degree Knight in the St. Thomas Knights of Columbus and was a faithful member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. In addition to his loving wife, Mary Kay, he is also survived by four children, Allan Brand (Jennifer) of Wardsville, Derek Brand of St. Charles, Melissa Scheulen (R.J.) of Meta, and Roxanne Schulte (Michael) of Mary's Home; nine grandchildren, Courtney Scheulen, Victoria Scheulen, Taylor Brand, Kaleigh Brand, Tristan Brand, Tanner Brand, Sheldon Schulte, Cody Schulte, and Ethan Schulte; two sisters, Rosetta Holtmeyer (Bernard) and Denise Wankum, both of St. Elizabeth; two brothers, Bill Brand (Phyllis) and Gary Brand, both of St. Anthony; and several nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers-in-law, Charles Wankum and Glenn Luebbering; and his goddaughter, Christina Brand. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 14, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in St. Thomas with Fr. Jeremy Secrist officiating. Interment will be held in St. Thomas Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 4 p.m., on Tuesday, March 13, at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Thomas the Apostle School or Compassus in Jefferson City. Arrangements are under the direction of Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Meta.
