Robert George Pope

Robert George Pope, age 55, of Freeburg, departed this life on Wednesday, June 20, 2018, in the Capital Region Medical Center, Jefferson City. He was born on January 15, 1963, at Jefferson City, the son of George Michael and Bernice Catherine (Strope) Pope. Robert was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, and was a lifelong farmer in Osage County as well as being a bus driver for Temmens Bus Company transporting students of the Osage R-3 schools. He really enjoyed farming and especially liked spending time with his family, boating on the river, and pulling practical jokes on people around him. Those left to mourn the passing of Robert include: His special friend, Rhonda Pope, of the home near Freeburg; his children and family, Misty Bastion and husband Scottie of Meta, Brittany Pope of Jefferson City, and Zachary Pope, Ryan Pope, Trevor Pope and Erika Pope, all of Freeburg; his grandchildren, Kara Bastion, Liam Pope and Aaliyah Everts; his sisters, Janet Carel and husband Keith of Jefferson City, Linda Herigon and husband David of Iberia, Nancy Schulte and husband Stephen of California, Carol Rackers and husband Dale of Wardsville, Alice Pope Fritz and husband Michael of Atlanta, Georgia, and Sandy Hale and husband Patrick, and Diane Pope, all of Jefferson City; nephews; nieces; great-nephews; great-nieces; other relatives; and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his father, George, on January 28, 2013; his mother, Bernice, on June 27, 2012; and a great-niece. Visitation for Mr. Robert G. Pope will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, 2018, with a Prayer Service at 4:00 p.m., and from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 25, 2018, in the Holy Family Catholic Church, 104 Oliver Street, Freeburg, MO 65035. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mr. Robert G. Pope at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, June 25, 2018, in the Holy Family Catholic Church, 104 Oliver Street, Freeburg, MO 65035, with The Rev. Matthew Flatley as the celebrant. Interment for Mr. Robert G. Pope will be in the St. Boniface Cemetery, Koeltztown, near his beloved parents, under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Vienna. Serving as his pallbearers will be Tim Carel, Josh Carel, Ben Rackers, Jacob Rackers, Scottie Bastion, Jason Volmert, Rodney Berhorst, Zach Pope, Ryan Pope, Trevor Pope, and Matt Pope.
