Betty Ragland Mansur

Betty Ragland Mansur, 90, a long-time resident of Jefferson City, passed away Friday, June 15, 2018, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, at the home of her daughter, Susan Mansur Bock. She was born January 27, 1928, in Higginsville, Missouri, the daughter of Bernard Edwin and Estella Louise Finley Ragland. Her family moved to Jefferson City, Missouri, in 1943. She graduated from Jefferson City High School in 1945 and received an Associate in Music Degree from Christian College in 1947. On May 3, 1952, she married Robert A. Mansur. In 2010, she moved from Jefferson City to Middle Tennessee to be closer to her daughter, Linda L. Mansur. Betty was an accomplished musician and a private piano and organ instructor for nearly 15 years. After moving to Jefferson City, she played organ for several churches and played timpani in the Jefferson City Symphony Orchestra. She was a long-time member of the Jefferson City Morning Music Club, most recently serving as Club Corresponding Secretary. She was an avid genealogist, having continued the family research her mother started with the help of her daughter, Linda. Together, they published three family histories. She was a member of the Middle Plantation Chapter (Tennessee), National Society Daughters of the American Colonists; charter member of the Cecilia Bradford Carroll Chapter (Tennessee), National Society Daughters of the American Revolution; charter member of The Hermitage Chapter (Tennessee), U.S. Daughters of 1812; and the Robert E. Lee Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy, in Missouri. Betty was an artistic person. In addition to music, she was accomplished in knitting, needlepoint, gardening, and other creative arts. She is survived by daughters: Susan M. Bock (Fritz), also of Peoria, Illinois, and Linda L. Mansur (Jim Grinstead) of Nashville, Tennessee; one grandson: Stephen M. Bock (Jennifer) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; two great-grandchildren: Hudsen and Selah; three nieces; and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Edwin Finley Ragland and William Lee Ragland; and nephew: Lee Finley Ragland. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. on Saturday June 30, 2018 at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors, 2613 West Main Street, Jefferson City. Burial will follow at the Masonic Cemetery in Tipton, Missouri.
