Catherine Alice "Katie" Rembish

Catherine Alice "Katie" Rembish, nee Costello, age 91, of Fulton, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri. She was born in East St. Louis, Ill. on September 25, 1926, to Daniel V. and Mamie Delehanty, Costello. She was 9th in the family of 11 children. Catherine attended Manner's Grande School in Washington Park, and was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church. She was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company prior to her marriage. She married Adolph John Rembish on February 3, 1945, at Holy Angels Catholic Church in East St. Louis, Ill., and the two traveled to Virginia where he was stationed with the U.S. Navy. Upon his discharge from the Navy, they returned to Washington Park, Ill. to operate Rembisz Grocery Store on 50th and Hill. She was also a co-owner of Costello-Rembish Answering Service in East St. Louis with her brother, Dan Costello. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by three brothers and their wives, Daniel E. (Elsie Moore) Costello, Edgar Thomas (Grace Simpson) Costello, Vincent Daniel (Bernice Golec) Costello, and U.S. Marine Corps Pvt. William Michael Costello, who was killed during WWII. Also preceding her in death were her sisters, Genevieve Mary Haake, Grace Catherine Heatherly, Mary Nora Kildea, Louise Jane (George) Gregurec, and Arnoldine Mary Costello, who died in infancy; one grandson, Keith Michael Rembish, in infancy; sister-in-law, Rosalie Hilligoss (Thomas) Costello; and two brothers-in-law, Ray Heatherly and Graney Kildea. Surviving are her son, Michael E. (Linda Carril) Rembish; a daughter, Cynthia (Ray) Gabris; four grandchildren, Catherine (Jim) Reid, Cynthia (Wade) Russell, Adam (Suzanne) Gabris, and Ryan (Megan) Gabris; ten great-grandchildren, Aidan and Andrew Reid, Paul, Anthony, Clara, and Henry Russell, Nathan, Mallory, Kevin, and Reese Gabris; a brother, Thomas Joseph Costello; a brother-in-law, George A. Gregurec; and many dear nieces, nephews and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Missouri Veteran's Home in Mexico, Mo., St. Peter's Catholic School Panthers Booster Club in Fulton, Mo., or in the form of Masses. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fairview Heights, IL. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fairview Heights, Ill. with Fr. Jim Nall officiating. Interment will be in St. Adalbert Cemetery, Fairview Heights, Ill.
