Mary Ellen Olive, 77, of Jefferson City, passed away Monday, July 9, 2018, at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital. She was born May 27, 1941, in Freeburg, Missouri, the daughter of the late Robert and Clara (Tillman) Cassmeyer. Mary Ellen graduated from Fatima High School in 1959. She received her registered nursing degree from St. Mary's Nursing School in Kansas City. She was united in marriage on April 27, 1963, in Freeburg to William Henry Olive who preceded her in death on December 19, 2007. Mary Ellen worked as a registered nurse for over 50 years with all the area hospitals. Most recently, Mary Ellen was the Certified Nursing Assistant Teacher for Stone Bridge Communities. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for over 50 years. She enjoyed hand sewing including crocheting and knitting, reading, and watching the Cardinal games. Mary Ellen loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Survivors include her children, Kay Marie Olive, Shawnee, Kansas; Keith Robert (friend, Karen Gorman) Olive, Jefferson City; Michael Grady (Vickie) Olive, Jefferson City; and Timothy Joseph Olive, Jefferson City; three grandchildren, Ryan William Gentges, Colorado Springs, Colorado; Alex Michael Gentges, and Clara Marie Gentges, both of Shawnee, Kansas; and one brother, James (Margaret) Cassmeyer, Taos, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Joan Cassmeyer; and a sister and brother-in-law, Rosella and Robert Bax. Visitation will be 4:30-7 p.m., Friday, July 13, 2018, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2018, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Donald J. Antweiler officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 261, Jefferson City, Missouri 65102.
