Roman Joseph Falter, age 79, of Freeburg, departed this life on Thursday, January 18, 2018, in the Heisinger Bluffs Lutheran Senior Services Community, Jefferson City. Roman had been in failing health for some time. Roman was born on June 6, 1938, at Freeburg, a son of Fritz William and Regina Magdalena (Morfeld) Falter. Roman was united in marriage on August 27, 1960, at Koeltztown, to the former Miss Rita Ann Meyer, and to this union, three daughters were born. He was preceded in death by his wife on May 19, 1997. On November 28, 1998, Roman married Mildred (Bock) Riegel. In addition to his first wife, Roman was also preceded in death by his father, Fritz, on September 18, 1982; his mother, Regina, on January 17, 1968; one step-son, Harvey Riegel; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Felix and Helen Falter and Ambrose and Ola Mae Falter; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harold and Ann Meyer; and brother-in-law, Joe Boehmer. Roman was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, and had served in the Missouri (U.S. Army) National Guard for six years from 1959 until 1965. During his working life, he had been employed as a Tool and Die Maker for the Quaker Window Products Company, Freeburg, for forty-five years prior to his retirement. Roman enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, spending time with his family, watching NASCAR, listening to country music, and was a "fixer upper", if something was broken, he always found a way to fix it. Those left to mourn the passing of Roman include: His wife, Mildred Falter, of the home in Freeburg; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Alvin Bexten, Westphalia, Sarah and Paul Sarantakos, Gibson City, Illinois, and Donna and Mark Schmitz, Argyle; his step-children, Delores and Paul Rose, Jefferson City, Stanley and Pat Riegel, Linn, Arlene and Joe Taylor, Jefferson City, and step-daughter-in-law, Patty Riegel, Linn; grandchildren, Jesse and Missy Bexten, Ashland, Samuel and Nichole, state of New Jersey, Frederick Sarantakos and James Sarantakos, both Gibson City, Illinois, Joseph and Christine Schmitz and Angela Bax, all of Jefferson City; step-grandchildren, Amy and Nathan Moore, state of Illinois; Chris and Lesley Rose, state of California; Melissa and Michael Frank, state of Texas; Jessica Riegel and Jared Riegel, both of Linn, Kathryn Taylor, Jefferson City, and Brian and Dawn Taylor, state of Colorado; great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Noah, Alex, Molly and Jonah Bexten and Adam Schmitz; step-great-grandchildren, Amelia and Brendan Rose, and Elise and Caroline Moore; his brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Judy Falter, Freeburg; two sisters and one brother -in-law, Georgia Boehmer, Freeburg, and Margaret and Greg Sankey, Koeltztown; sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Leon Lehmen, Koeltztown; brother-in-law, EJ Meyer, Vienna; and many other relatives and friends. Visitation for Roman J. Falter will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, with a Prayer Service at 4:00 p.m., and from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, January 25, 2018, all in the Holy Family Catholic Church, 104 Oliver Street, Freeburg, Missouri 65035. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Roman J. Falter at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, January 25, 2018, in the Holy Family Catholic Church, 104 Oliver Street, Freeburg, Missouri 65035 with the Rev. William D. Debo as the Celebrant. Interment, with full military honors, will be in the Holy Family Cemetery, Freeburg, under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Vienna. Memorial contributions in memory of Roman J.
