Maya (Shirey) Lewis

Maya (Shirey) Lewis, 38, of California, Mo., passed away at her residence on Thursday, January 18, 2018. She was born on January 22, 1979, in Pomona, Kan., the daughter of Mark Shirey and Sandra (Church) Shirey, both of whom survive in California, Mo. She was a graduate of School of the Osage in 1997. She worked for the Missouri Department of Revenue doing titles and licensing. She enjoyed baking, crafting, traveling, going to the beach, helping others and spending time with her kids, family, and friends. Survivors include two sons, Nicholas Connell of California, Mo., Landon Lewis of California, Mo.; one brother, Mathew Shirey of California, Mo.; two sisters, Angela Shirey of Foley, Ala., Mary Shepherd of Osage Beach, Mo.; good friend and former husband, Nathan Lewis of California, Mo. and her boyfriend Dakota Dowell of the home. She is preceded in death by one brother, Jacob Shirey. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, from 12 noon 2:00 p.m. with a funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. both at the funeral home. Burial will be at the California City Cemetery.
