Dr. Charles Francis Luebbert 'Doc', 93, of Tipton Missouri, passed away Monday, January 15, 2018, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. He was one of nine children born to Phillip and Catherine Luebbert in Brinktown, Missouri. He married Viola Teresa Bax on August 4, 1945, and moved to Tipton, Missouri in 1946. Doc graduated from the Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1946. He began his medical career in Tipton from his home office where he delivered many babies. He built the Tipton Osteopathic Clinic in 1950, followed by the Luebbert Medical Center in 1987, where he continued to practice Family Medicine until his retirement in 1994. Doc was actively involved in the Osteopathic Medical profession and was one of the founders of Charles E. Still Osteopathic Hospital which is now the Capital Region Medical Center. He served on the Missouri Board of Registration for the Healing Arts which reviewed licensing of new physicians. Doc served as the Moniteau County coroner for many years. Doc was a member of numerous community organizations. He joined the Knights of Columbus in 1947, and was a 4th degree member. He was a member of the Lions club for over 70 years and a past president of the Tipton Chamber of Commerce. He was a founding member and past president of the Tipton Farmers and Sportsman Club. Doc was passionate about farming and conservation. He was a member and past president of the Missouri Conservation Federation. He was the longest serving member of the Missouri Conservation Foundations Board of Trustees and was the 1st recipient of the Ed Stegner Lifetime Achievement in Conservation award. He also served on the Missouri Clean Water commission. He was a supporter of Ducks Unlimited and enjoyed many hours hunting and fishing both in Missouri and Alaska where he was a founding member of the King Salmon Sportsmens Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Viola; brothers, Edward, Leo, Ben and William Luebbert; sisters, Anna Rowden, Claire Gloriot, Fran Hydro and Gertrude Bohers. Doc is survived by son, Dr. Russell Luebbert and his wife Dr. Marilyn Mittlestat Luebbert of Arizona/Minnesota; daughter, Lynn Kay Brauer and husband Steven of Tipton; granddaughters, Heather Martin and her husband Ralph of Tipton and Teresa Marie Galli and her husband Mike of St. Charles; great-grandchildren, William Martin and Mila Galli; and several loving nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2018, at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Tipton with burial following in St. Andrews Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the St. Andrews Catholic Church with the Rosary held at 4:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the St. Andrews Catholic School, the Alzheimer's Association or a conservation charity of your choice.
