Peggy L. Proctor
Mrs. Peggy L. Proctor, 90, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018, at Tipton Oak Manor. She was born July 18, 1927, in Sedalia, a daughter of Tilden and Stella Newkirk Farris. On Nov. 11, 1949, she married J.W. Proctor, who died May 4, 2007. Mrs. Proctor was co-owner of Proctor Building Materials Inc. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Phi Chapter, a charter member of the Tipton Country Club and the Progressive Bridge Club. She was a member of the Tipton United Methodist Church since the age of 4 and taught Sunday school for 35 years. She enjoyed doing needlework and visiting with grandchildren, family and friends. Surviving is one son, Bruce J. Proctor, Tipton; three grandchildren, Krystal (Matt) Lang, St. Louis, Myles (Christy) Proctor, Tipton, and Julie (Michael) Grimes, Columbia; four great-grandchildren, Olivia Lang, Alora Proctor, Zachary Knippel and Ian Romig; former daughter-in-law, Barbara Harmon, Boise, Idaho; and friend of the family, Bertha Harris, Tipton. She also was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Hofstetter; and four brothers, Roscoe Farris, Bill Farris, T.J. Farris and Lloyd Farris. The body will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, at the Tipton United Methodist Church followed by a reception.
