Charles W. Blackburn

Charles W. "Bud" Blackburn, 83, of Eugene, Missouri, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Miller County Nursing and Rehab in Tuscumbia, Missouri. He was born May 5, 1934 in Eugene, Missouri, the son of the late Nile and Irene (Duncan) Blackburn. On May 25, 1979 in Eldon, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Mary Etta (Chilton) Blackburn, who preceded him in death on February 12, 1998. He served in the United States Army and was employed mostly with Rock Island Railroad as well as Union Pacific for 34 years before retiring as a conductor. He was a rancher most of his life and a former member of the Missouri Cattlemen's Association and the American Gelbvieh Association. Survivors include: his children, Michael Linn Blackburn (Shelli) of South Hutchinson, Kan.; Kevin Jubal Blackburn (Tressa) of Iberia, Mo.; Rebel Dee Wilcox (Rick) of Westmoreland, Kan.; Nile Brenner Blackburn (Lisa) of Mount Hope, Kan.; Joshua Todd Blackburn of Jacksonville, Fla.; Bill Plank (Carol) of Mary's Home, Mo.; Tom Plank (friend Sue) of Cook Station, Mo.; Terry Mears (T.J.) of Henley, Mo.; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Jean Ott of Jefferson City, Mo. Two sisters, Wanda Lou Carrender and Peggy Sue Hager, preceded him in death. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 10, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon, Mo. Funeral Service will be Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 10:00 a.m., also at the funeral home with Rev. Kevin Jubal Blackburn officiating. Interment will follow at Eugene Cemetery with Full Military Honors presented. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon, Mo.
