Walter William "Walt" Ordway, 62, of Holts Summit, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2018, at Capital Region Medical Center. God took him from his wife's arms to no longer feel the pain of cancer. He was born November 23, 1955, in Marshall, Missouri, the son of the late David and Lorraine (Hoecker) Ordway. In 1992, he met the love of his life. He was united in marriage on January 14, 1994, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jefferson City to Christine Lewis-Hoelscher who survives. Walt became a sheet metal worker for Local 36 in November of 1979. He furthered his career into Nuclear Management until retiring August 1, 2016. After retirement, Walt's greatest and most enjoyed achievement was being the softball and football coach for the Jefferson City Special Olympics teams. In his earlier years, Walt played fast-pitch softball and loved to follow MU girls softball. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Chris (Lewis-Hoelscher) Ordway, Holts Summit; two sons, Kyle (Tiffany) Hoelscher, Bedford, Texas; Cole (Raks) Hoelscher, Santa Rosa, Calif.; and was a waiting the birth of his first grandchild, Callie Hoelscher in June. Other survivors include his father and mother-in-law, Walter "Wally" and Roberta Lewis, Troy, Ill.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, John and Cheryl (Lewis) Reisenleiter, Granite City, Ill.; brother-in-law, Michael Lewis, Stanton, Ill.; two sisters, Diane Thompson (fianc Bill Modrcin), Kansas City; Linda (Scott) Taylor, Jefferson City; three brothers, Mark Ordway; Roger (Lisa) Ordway; David (Jamie) Ordway, all of Jefferson City; sister-in-law, Mary Jane Ordway, Jefferson City; one uncle, Ken (Fay) Modglin, Mesquite, Texas; two aunts, Mary Hoecker, Marshall, Mo.; Mary Alice Straatman, Glasgow, Mo.; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert Ordway; and a nephew, Jordan Ordway. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, February 9, 2018, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 p.m., February 9, 2018, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. I.C. Medina and the Rev. Christopher Cordes concelebrating. Burial will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Anna City Cemetery in Anna, Illinois with the Rev. Federico Higuera officiating.
