Patricia L. Buxton, 89, of Jefferson City, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 31, 2018. She was born on March 1, 1928 in Springfield, Missouri, the daughter of George Wesley Wise and Ruth Mary (Brundrett) Wise. She was united in marriage to Jerry Buxton and they were married for over 52 years. Patricia earned her undergraduate degree at Northwestern University. She and her husband were the first married couple to graduate from the University of Missouri Law School in 1959. She worked for the State of Missouri for over 35 years and was the first woman to be the Reviser of Statutes for Missouri. She was very proud to be a Mizzou Tiger fan and loved watching all of the sporting teams. She was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church in Jefferson City, Daughter of the American Revolution, President of the Cole County Historical Society, and a Docent at the Governor's Mansion. She is survived by two sons: Mark Buxton of Jefferson City and Malcolm Buxton of Jefferson City; one sister: Marie Wallace of North Carolina; and two nephews: Scott Wallace of North Carolina and Norman Wallace of North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Grace Episcopal Church, 217 Adams Street in Jefferson City, Missouri.
