Charles G. Cohen

Charles G. Cohen, age 97, of St. Louis, Mo., passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2018. He was born on September 25, 1920. He was the beloved husband for the past 65 years of Myrna H. (Morganstern) Cohen; father of Dr. Raymond F. (Donna) Cohen, Ruth M. (Dr. Brian) Kominsky, Edward A. (Carol) Cohen, and Stanley H. Cohen; beloved grandfather of Ellen Kominsky (Alex) Koch, Amy Kominsky (Ryan) Crighton, Michael Kominsky, Sarah Cohen, Elizabeth Cohen and Andrew Cohen, and beloved great-grandfather of Liam Donaldson, Sloan Crighton, Atlas Crighton and Gabriella Koch; dear brother of the late Helen (Ray) Ulevitch and Julius Cohen, and is survived by his brother, Lester Cohen; beloved step-grandfather of Melissa, Jenifer, Jason and the late Nicholas Canada. He is a life-long resident of Jefferson City, except for the last few years, was spent in a nursing home in St. Louis. He graduated from Jefferson City High School in 1939, and attended Jefferson City Junior College and St. Louis University before graduating with a B.S. in business from the University of Missouri, Columbia. He worked in his familys clothing business for years and then worked for the State of Missouri Division of Employment Security until retirement. He served in the Unites States Army during WWII, mostly in the South Pacific. He received bronze stars for involvement in the Philippines and New Guinea campaigns. He was a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He was a past president of Temple Beth-El in Jefferson City and served for years as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Graveside service will be Monday, February 5, at 11:30 a.m. at Riverview Cemetery-Temple Beth El Section, 2600 W. Main Street, Jefferson City, MO 65109.
