Gregory Kenneth Mantle, 52, of Jefferson City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at Capital Region Medical Center, surrounded by family. He was born on January 25, 1965, in Jefferson City, the son of Howard Kenneth and Ellen Gay (Allen) Mantle. Greg was a 1985 graduate of Jefferson City High School. He received his Bachelors in Education from the University of Missouri in Columbia. In his earlier years he was employed with WalMart. He most recently enjoyed working as a substitute teacher for the Jefferson City Public School system. Greg is survived by his father, Howard Mantle; one brother, Mark (Lena) Mantle, Jefferson City; two sisters, Janet (Alan) Lueckenhoff, Holts Summit, and Joyce (Mark) Miloro, Jefferson City; four nephews, five nieces, eight great-nephews, nine great-nieces, and one great-niece with an anticipated due date of October. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ellen Gay Mantle; paternal grandparents, Theron and Wilma Mantle; and maternal grandparents, Paul and Caroline Allen. He will be greatly missed by his family and his faithful dog, Zendra. Greg was thankful for many things, but especially the children that touched his heart while he was teaching and the time he was able to spend with his "prayer angels" at his apartment complex. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., Saturday, September 16, at Southridge Baptist Church, Jefferson City. Immediately following will be a memorial service to celebrate Greg's life and his joyful reunion with his mother.
