Betty Jo Mertens, age 67, of Osage Bend, Missouri entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Jefferson City Manor. Betty Jo passed from this world while surrounded by her family. She was born on September 1, 1950 at the family farm in Osage Bend, Missouri, the daughter of the late Raymond and Elizabeth (Braun) Siebeneck. She was united in marriage on October 5, 1979 to Tim Mertens, who survives at the home. Betty Jo was a 1968 graduate of Fatima High School. She was a factory worker until the birth of her first child. Betty Jo then left the work force to raise her children, home school and also help her husband with farm work. After her youngest finished high school, she began providing home health care for the elderly. Betty Jo's heart was full of compassion and kindness. She had a deep faith in Christ and faithfully served our Lord. Her favorite hobbies were photography, playing the guitar, square dancing, and spending time with her family, especially her three grandchildren. She also treasured her trips to the beach and Nashville with her husband, Tim. Along with her husband, Tim, she is survived by her children: Emily Olsen (Michael), Frank Mertens, and Anita De La Cruz (Jesse), all of Jefferson City; her brother, Raymond James Siebeneck of Osage Bend; and grandchildren: Gillian Burks, Asher Olsen, and Jesse De La Cruz Jr. Along with her parents, Betty Jo was preceded in death by an infant sister, Shirley Siebeneck, and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Siebeneck. Family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Houser Millard Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 11, 2017, at First Assembly of God with Pastor Bob Nilges and Pastor Lowell Perkins officiating. Private interment will follow.
