Barbara A. Hellwege

Barbara A. Hellwege, age 94 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., went peacefully to heaven on Sunday, September 3, 2017, at Adams Street Place, surrounded by her loving family. Barbara was born November 29, 1922, in Canton, Ohio, a daughter of Carl M. and Myrtle Tucker Lape. Survivors include: four sons, Louis A. Griggs and his wife Vannessa of St. Peters, Mo., Richard M. Griggs and his wife Ronda of Jefferson City, Mo., Stephen L. Griggs and his wife Karen of Holts Summit, Mo., and Frank A. Griggs and his wife Therese of Denver, Colorado; one daughter, Becky Williams and her husband Gary of Centertown, Mo.; three step-sons, Larry R. Benton of St. Louis, Mo., Joel P. Hellwege and his wife Carla of Pagosa Springs, Colorado, and Jonathan P. Hellwege and his wife Ruth of Mishawaka, Indiana; three step-daughters, Mary Ann Coudy and her husband Tony of Rockport, Texas, Laura Holland and her husband Dennis of Worcester, Massachusetts, and Rachel L. Vaughn and her husband Rex of Pagosa Springs, Colorado; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three beloved husbands, Rev. Louie C. Griggs Jr., Lawrence R. Benton, and Rev. Robert O. Hellwege; and two sisters, Patricia E. Lemieux and Jaci Milner. Visitation will be held from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 16, 2017, at Concord Baptist Church, 3724 West Truman Blvd., Jefferson City, Mo. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 16, 2017, at Concord Baptist Church, with Pastor Bill Dillon and Reverend Jake Taggart officiating.
