Alfonzo "Poncho" Licon Jr.

Alfonzo "Poncho" Licon Jr., age 74, of Jefferson City, formerly of El Paso, Texas and Monroe City, Mo., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born November 3, 1943 in El Paso, Texas, a son of Alfonzo and Justina "Martinez" Licon Sr. He moved from Texas at a young age to work on the railroad eventually settling in Missouri. In 1976 he was united in marriage to Helena "Russell" Licon, who survives. Alfonzo always enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, collecting items, eating Mexican food, and most of all spending time with his family whom he cherished. He had a wonderful sense of humor that will always be remembered by those who knew him best. In addition to his wife Helena, he is survived by two daughters: Justina Flores of Slater, Mo. and Alicea Mullen (Rick) of Jefferson City, Mo.; four grandsons: Kendrick Austin of Salt Lake City, Utah, Adrian Flores of Slater, Mo., and Patrick and Ryan Mullen of Jefferson City, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents. Per the wishes of Alfonzo, private services will be held at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the donor's choice.
