Henry John Nolte

Henry John Nolte, 90, a lifelong resident of Chamois, died on November 10, 2017. He was born on September 25, 1927, in Chamois, Missouri, a son of the late Henry John Sr. and Emma Regina (Boss) Nolte. On February 16, 1952, Henry was united in marriage at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Chamois, to Shirley (Smith) Nolte. Henry attended school in Chamois at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic School before joining the United States Navy. Henry served in the Philippines during WWII. After being honorably discharged, Henry went to work for the Missouri Pacific Railroad where he retired after over 40 years of service. Upon retiring, he found great pleasure in being the caretaker of the grounds at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church where he was an active member. He served on the Church Cemetery Board, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and American Legion Post #506. Henry enjoyed fishing, gardening, hunting, playing dominoes and cards, and spending time with his grandchildren. Henry is survived by his loving wife, Shirley, of the home; one son, Michael Nolte and wife Barbie, of Leawood, Kansas; two daughters: Sheryl Starke and husband Tom, of Chamois, Missouri and Jennifer Brown and husband Trent of Jefferson City, Missouri; eight grandchildren: Ashley Starke, Emma-Lea Nolte, Jordan Starke, Justine Nolte Groff, Caitlin Starke, Caroline Nolte, John Watts and Marjorie Brown; and one great-granddaughter: Ella Smith Groff. He is also survived by a sister, Agnes Nolte Faron, of Overland, Missouri. He was preceded in death by five adult siblings: Theresa Nolte McMillian, Joseph Nolte, Leona Nolte Smith, Anthony Nolte and Edmund Nolte; four infant siblings: Viola, Lawrence, Clarence and John Nolte; and one granddaughter, Micah Starke. Family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 13, 2017, at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church with a rosary beginning at 3:15 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at the church, with Fr. David Means, celebrant. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Chamois, Missouri.
