Kenneth Paul Mertens, 61, of Wardsville, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2017, at his residence. He was born July 19, 1956, in Jefferson City, a son of the late George Joseph and Agnes Martina (Hentges) Mertens. Kenny worked for Von Hoffmann, RR Donnelley and TNT Pallet. He loved to fish, hunt, farm, camp, ride his Harley and be outdoors with his family and friends. Kenny's greatest love was his grandchildren and spending time with them. He is survived by his daughters: Brandy Wirtz (Jon) of Sedalia, Jennifer Clark (Alton) of Jefferson City, Christina Sees of Jefferson City, Christa Dickneite (Darren) of Jefferson City, Elizabeth Mosley (Michael) of California; friend: Pam Mertens; siblings: Shirley Hoelscher (Irvin) of Osage Bend, Margaret Mertens of Texas, Fred Mertens (Rosie) of Jefferson City, John Mertens (Beth) of Wardsville, George Mertens (Barb) of St. Martins, Helen Welch of St. Martins, Anna Bisges (Leroy) of Jefferson City; grandchildren: Colby Epley, Keagan Epley, Gavin Clark, Rylin Clark, Gage Clark, Braylen Dickneite, Ryleigh Dickneite, Breanna Sees, Alex Mosley, Skylar Rosencrans, Trey Hayes, as well as numerous other family members and friends. Kenny was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Charles Mertens; brother-in-law: Robert Welch; and granddaughter: Hailey Evans-Clark. Friends will be received from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Funeral Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors with Shawn Stevens officiating. Interment will be private for the family.
