Linda Jean Smittle, 73, of Jefferson City, passed away Friday, March 17, 2017, at her residence. She was born April 13, 1943, in Stuebenville, Ohio, the daughter of the late David L. and Lois V. (Reaney) Stevenson. Linda was a graduate of Stuebenville High School in Stuebenville, Ohio. She retired from the State of Missouri, Division of Economic Development and worked at JCPenney in the Catalog Department. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Bittersweet Garden Club, Beta MU Masters, Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. Linda was a volunteer at Capital Region Health Center and did the holiday decorations for over 25 years at what is now known as the Goldschmidt Cancer Center. She enjoyed gardening, nature and her pets. Linda's greatest love was spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends. She is survived by her children: Michelle Jansen (Scott) of Jefferson City, Brian Smittle of Austin, Texas and Deborah Kovacs (Scott) of St. Louis; grandchildren: Slate Smittle, Spencer and Riley Kovacs, and Abigail and Kaitlin Jansen. She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Lois Stevenson. Friends will be received from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 24, 2017, at First Presbyterian Church. Memorial Services will follow at 11:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Robert Erickson officiating.
