Derek G Peters, 49, of Bonnots Mill, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 19, 2017, at his home. He was born June 4, 1967, in Columbia, Missouri, the son of Dan and Ronda Edwards Peters. He was united in marriage on June 24, 1995, in Wardsville to Jill Rackers. She survives at the home. Derek graduated from Fatima High School. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Loose Creek. He was employed with AJ Rackers, Woodman Engineering and also worked for ABB. For the past 26 years Derek was the owner and operator of Peters Construction and had a passion for building and operating his equipment. Derek enjoyed raising cattle, hunting, fishing and shooting guns. Most of all, Derek loved spending time with the love of his life, Jill, and going on their many trips including Silver Dollar City, Las Vegas and Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Along with his wife Jill, he is survived by his parents: Dan and Ronda Peters of Bonnots Mill; one brother: Bob Peters (Kim) of Bonnots Mill; two sisters: Connie Cassella (Tom) of Apache Junction, Ariz. and Danna Peters of Jefferson City; mother-in-law: Pat Rackers of Jefferson City; two sisters-in-law: Jean Kaiser and her friend Jeff White of Jefferson City and Sandy Kremer (Gary) of Bonnots Mill; nieces and nephews: Chris Kohler, Jordan Kremer, Ali Peters, Makayla Peters, and Nicole Berg. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, and father-in-law: Herman Rackers. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Loose Creek, where a prayer service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 23, 2017, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Loose Creek, with Fr. Louis Nelen officiating. Interment will follow in St. Louis of France Catholic Church Cemetery, Bonnots Mill. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Derek Peters Benefit, c/o Legends Bank.
