Richard Pete Lauf, age 54 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at his home. Pete was born March 22, 1962 in Wichita, Kan., the son of Richard L. and Barbara Prock Lauf. He was married on January 17, 1992 in Jefferson City, Mo. to Calise Collins. A longtime resident of the Jefferson City area, Pete spent his early childhood in Florida before moving to central Missouri. Pete graduated from New Bloomfield High School. He attended Lincoln University and the Columbia School of Broadcasting. He was employed as a broadcaster with KLIK and KTXY for several years. Pete wore many hats in his life until ill health forced his retirement. Pete was a kind hearted man who loved nature, fishing, the ocean, golf, chess and animals. He always wanted to help others anyway he could. Most importantly, he cherished time with his family. Survivors include: his wife of 25 years, Calise Lauf; two sons, Richard Joshua Lauf of Jefferson City, Mo. and Shelby Lauf of Jefferson City, Mo.; one daughter, Chelsee Lee Lauf of Holts Summit, Mo.; two sisters, Gina Mosher and her husband Paul of New Bloomfield, Mo. and Sherry Lauf of Seattle Wash.; and one grandchild, Airius Dane Peterson of Holts Summit, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 25, 2017 in the Duke Chapel of the First Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Doyle Sager officiating.
