Carey E. Bogg, 73, of Jefferson City, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia. He was born on November 2, 1943, in Jefferson City, a son of the late Albert Edward and Gladys Elizabeth (Moore) Bogg. On August 7, 1970, he was united in marriage to Jean Schatzer at Grace Episcopal Church in Jefferson City, she survives at the home. Carey was a 1961 graduate of Jefferson City Public High School and Lincoln University with a Bachelors Degree in Construction Engineering. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a Draftsman in the Engineer Corps from 1968 to 1969. He was the owner and operator of House of Bargains and Frenchie's Antique Mall. Carey was a devoted husband, a loving father and a proud grandfather. He was immensely dedicated to his employees at House of Bargains whom he thought of as an extension of his family. Commitment and service to his community as an enterprising businessman and leader was a significant part of his life. He was a genuine patriot who loved, defended and supported his country, the military and law enforcement. Carey unquestionably affected the lives of so many. He will be missed beyond words. Along with his wife Jean, he is survived by his children, Daniel Bogg (Karen) of St. Paul, Minn., Christopher Bogg (Melodie) of Jefferson City, DeAnne Bogg of Jefferson City; siblings, Albert Bogg of Centertown, Ronny Bogg (Linda) of Hartsburg, Forrest "Ben" Bogg (Rosemary) of Lake of the Ozarks, Devon Bogg of Sarasota, Fla.; brother-in-law, Jorge Canales of Miami, Fla.; grandchildren, Paige, Katlyn, Elera, Alexander and Aurora. Carey was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Peggy Canales. Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2017, at Houser Millard Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 20, 2017, at Houser Millard Funeral Directors. Entombment will follow in Riverview Mausoleum.
