Wanda Jane Boyce

Mrs. Wanda Jane Boyce, age 84 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at St. Joseph Bluffs. Wanda was born on July 1, 1932 in Jefferson City, Mo., the daughter of Cecil and Rosa (Holiday) Jones. She was married on January 6, 1951 in Cedar City, Mo. to Paul Curtis Boyce, who preceded her in death on June 20, 2007. A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Wanda was a 1950 graduate of Jefferson City High School and attended Jefferson City Junior College. Wanda was a homemaker for the majority of her life and her main passion was supporting her husband and children. She was proud to have an active hand in raising her two sons, helping take care of the family farm in Holts Summit, and supporting her husband during his 37 year career in the Missouri Army National Guard. She cherished any time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren later in life. She was a past treasurer and member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Holts Summit, Mo. Wanda was an avid reader and enjoying being outdoors, especially feeding hummingbirds on the farm. She made sure their family had an extensive garden each year and canned for the winter months. During Paul's retirement they enjoyed traveling around the United States and Europe. Survivors include: two sons, Paul Cecil Boyce (wife Ruth) of Holts Summit, Mo. and Clyde Jackson Boyce (wife Brigitte) of Jefferson City, Mo.; one brother, Paul David Horn (wife Gloria) of Eldon, Mo.; three grandchildren, Sarah Miller (husband Jim) of Reno, Nev., Kurtis Cecil Boyce of Holts Summit, Mo. and Juergen Schulz of Germany; and three great-grandchildren, Caleb Miller, Toby Miller, and Irina Schulz. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 56 years, Paul; and an infant brother, Cecil Paul Jones. Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 17, 2017. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 17, 2017 in the Freeman Chapel with Pastor Marion Mitchell officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Salvation Army, 927 Jefferson Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101.
